One really never knew what to expect in the World that Never was, because new things were always coming up and taking the residents by surprise, everything stranger then the last.
"Xavi-chan? Have you seen Marie-Antoinette?"
The therapist nobody turned at the voice, saw nothing, and then looked down. It turned out it was a young girl with pink pigtails and merry green eyes who had asked her the innocent question. It was Myxa, the waking doll.
She was by far the youngest nobody in the Shadows, who worked under the main 13 of the World that Never Was, and served as a sort of mascot for the group. Though she wasn't as young As Roxas had been, but a year or two older. Instead of the standard coat, she wore a black summer dress with white stockings and mary-janes.
And though she appeared a bit older then Roxas, she acted like a child of seven. Xavia suspected it had something to do with her life as a somebody or the manner of her becoming a nobody, or maybe even due to trauma over losing her heart. Vexen assumed it was because she was a young girl when it happened, but her physical form was older. No one could tell.
Her ability was
odd. Because it involved bringing her weapons, a variety of dolls, to life and attacking whoever she told them to. She had Sophie the china doll, Daliah the glamor doll, Tina the pull-string doll, Lulu the ball-jointed doll, and this apparent new one by the name of Marie-Antionette. Each one used a weaponless martial arts that varied from doll to doll.
Everyone figured her power was 'dolls' and went with it. The dolls themselves weren't exactly powerhouses, but fast as hell and completely subject to the mind of the child who controlled them. Top all that off with the fact that Myxa isn't the most mature of people, and seemed to behave more like a girl of seven. If you really think about it, it's pretty damn scary.
But thankfully Myxa was loyal to the organization and in extension, so were her dolls.
"No I don't believe I have Mimi." Xavia said, using the girl's nickname, "In fact, I don't believe I've met her."
She looked downcast, "Oh."
Not liking to see the girl appear sad, the therapist offered, "Why don't we look for her together?"
"Yay!"
It was fairly common knowledge that Myxa could only have a certain number of dolls with her at one time, five specifically. And when Penny the paper doll was destroyed in an accident with Saix, it made sense that a new one would be made soon enough. But it always took a fair amount of time. She had to wait and gather as much darkness as it look for the specific doll and then mold it into exactly what she wanted. Some took longer because they were larger or required more detail. But it was unlike her to lose them so soon.
The rumor stood that sometimes she'd put too much darkness into one doll, causing it to form it's own will. There was no proof to back that claim, but when someone tripped over or stepped on one of the toys when it was in doll mode, best thing to do would be to scurry off as fast as possible.
They asked around if any of the shadows had seen them, but luck was minimal. No one had noticed a stray toy lying around, and even if they had, they would have left it alone.
Eventually they came across one of the higher ups. The one who wouldn't snap at them, number nine.
"Ah, Mister Demyx. Can you help me find Marie-Antoinette?" Xavia asked, knowing Demyx would sometimes play with Myxa when she was remembering feelings of loneliness.
He shook his head with a playful laugh.
"I'd love to sweetie, but I have to tell Xerrica that Zexion thinks she can boil in a vat of human excrement if she thinks Stine can actually write a book that makes sense." He said to them, reciting what Zexion told him to say, "Those two are so strange."
"Oh, okay then." She said, a little disappointed, for she really liked playing with Demyx, "Bye mister Demyx."
"Bye sweetie!" Demyx waved before going back on his way.
"It's a shame he's so busy, Marie-Anionette would like him." Myxa moaned.
"I'm sure she would." Xavia assured her, before they ran into another higher up.
Instead they bumped into the rampant beat, Xire, and local prankster. Xavia dealt with him like she would a stubborn teenager, which was way harder then it sounded. The work of a shrink is often under-appreciated, especially at the world that never was.
"Xire," She asked, "Myxa here recently lost her newest doll. And I was wondering if you knew where it was."
The green haired nobody looked from his therapist to the girl missing the doll, and let out a long sigh "I didn't take your doll, if that's what you're asking. Believe me I've got much bigger fish to fry."
Xavia didn't like the sound of that.
"What are you doing?" She asked,
"Just rigging up a little surprise for number ten." He smirked, "I've got the oil and the chewing gum set up, the rest is all just a matter of getting the socks to drop right when the bowling ball makes the yogurt go off."
If it were anyone else he might have been called a genius.
"Well that's very
interesting." Xavia admitted.
Before any of the older nobodies could say anything else, a smaller figure leapt down at them scaring the bejezus out of all of them my Myxa. She stood up straight and revealed a slim girl with ginger hair and violet eyes wearing a nice blue dress and apron. Her pretty face was completely devoid of all emotion, half lidded eyes staring straight ahead. Like most of her dolls, Tina only really came to a grown man's waist, almost none of them had much height on them.
"Oh, Tina. Did you find her?" Myxa asked, pulling at something on her back.
"No, we haven't been able to locate her." The ginger doll said emotionlessly, She had a pull string, making her the only doll that could talk. Myxa often used her for messages.
Everyone agreed that Tina was the creepiest.
"Well, go check with the others, and if none of you found her, head back to my room and go to sleep." By go to sleep she meant become dolls again. Xire and Xavia shivered, like anyone did at the way she used that word.
Tina bowed and walked away as the older shadows breathed a simultaneous sigh of relief. God she was creepy with high pitched voice that held to emotion or any sort of soul within it, not to mention it blank eyes.
"Aww" Myxa moaned, "Now what?"
Xavia knelt down beside the girl, "Maybe we'll find her tomorrow after a good nights rest. Who knows, she might find her way back to-"
"GAAAAAAAH!"
Everyone jumped at the sound of someone shout in fear. It couldn't have been Xerrica, she was out on her weekly bath. The three shadows rushed towards the source of the scream to find Axel, holding a plush toy by the arm and giving it a horrified look. It turned out to be a large plush doll in a pink victorian dress, and did I mention she was without a head?
Xire could only stare in shock. Xavia was about to sputter out where he found the thing, when Myxa let out a happy cry.
"You found her!"
They stared at the ran over and pulled the doll from the redheads grip and hugged her tight.
"Marie Antoinette, where have you been?" She scolded to the toy, "The others have been looking all over for you."
"Uh, kid? Where's her head?"
She looked up at the grown ups with a confused expression.
"Why would she need a head, she is Marie Antoinette silly."
Xavia paled as the boys looked at each other with confused looks.
"Uh honey?" She asked, "Why is she named that?"
"She came with the name."
Again Xavia paled a bit, "Erm, where do you get ideas for your dolls?"
"They just come to me. Marie Antionette came after penny went away." Myxa explained, "She's big and tough, watch."
With a violet flash of light, the doll became human sized and human fleshed. Still headless, it put the girl on it's shoulders and began to walk away. Myxa giggled as the others stared.
"I'm off the bed." She called, "Goodnight!"
As they stomped away, Axel watched in mild horror.
"What the hell was that?"
Xire shook his head, while Xavia just sighed. How could she tell them that Marie Antoinette was the name of a noblewoman from her world who had been beheaded by the common folk for lack of showing any remorse towards them?
This was one for her psychology reports.

Like the fact that Xire instantly answers 'I didn't take it'.
And yay for Axel being in this!

I think I had the response in mind as a punk reflex. Always saying "Not me!" even when he doesn't know what he did.
Yay for Axel and (by your other comment) Demyx. I really wanted to have them in there somehow.

Yeah, it is like a reflex. And reminding me of Axel... and the RPG... He is called to the Superior's office sometime and Xemnas starts by saying that he has some questions for him, and he instantly responds "I didn't do it, god dammit!" - and it has nothing to do with anything. XD
We like them, we're happy they're in there~

I'm pretty sure every kid has done that reflex some time in their life. XD
Good, I was afraid that their appearance would be too random and out of place. I'm happy it worked out.

Heh, yeah. If all goes right I can make the fight go on in so many different ways.
